Crunch into reverse.

Both manual and automatic transmission are discussed here, including the clutch!

Crunch into reverse.

Post by AcidicDavey » Wed May 11, 2011 10:14 pm

Yet another thread made by me to try and resolve yet another problem!

Reverse can sometimes be very had to engage on my Manual Celeb'!
It got so bad today I had to make about 3 attempts to get her into reverse. You can be super gentle and you still get a crunch! It's very frustrating!!
All other gears are fine all of the time by the way. Sometimes reverse is just as slick as the rest but it is only a treat on special occasions

Please tell me that there's a very common problem to do with the linkage or something and not that the gearbox is $*/@!

First thing to do is ...

Check your rear engine mount is intact .

Right ok. I have 'regular' access to a ramp at college but they've got a bloody suzuki Buggy project in bits at the moment on it. I haven't had a look under my car for the 8 weeks I've owned her! Very annoying!

check from under the bonnet and then jack up axle stand and look at from side or car ramps.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of scuttle shake caused by wheel spin or on the overrun in 2nd so your probably right about engine mounts or something!
Your getting to good at this Jim!!
