My automatic ES (180.000 km) has a problem: when it should shift from second to third gear it often "hesitates" while shifting gears. It seems as if the clutch is free for a second or two and the engine revs up suddenly for a moment.
Anyone experienced this? Electronics? Position selector? Old /dirty oil?
Any suggetions??
Thanks in advance!

First of all, let your gearbox get cleaned!!!
Old oil out, replaced by a special cleaning oil.
Then, new oil.
Maybe it helps!
The ZF just sucks

ZF sucks??
I drove a 740 with ZF automatic transmission from 140.000 till nearly 350.000 km. No problem!!
But thanks anyway, I'll try and hope for the best.

The old ZF boxes really often need a oilchange.
When not, bye bye.
But in that point you are right, we are now talking about an FWD

Get rid of the bad oil ! Best idea before you do anything.
