Had increasing difficulty selecting reverse now its gone altogether.. The gear stick was very wobbly so replaced the entire stick assembly with a nice tight stick rejoined but still cant get reverse. Its driving me nuts as I the gears dont grind and work well apart from this.
Any ideas as its driving me up the wall (bad memories of messing around for ages with an S40).
cant select reverse

feel like a right tube !
changed the rear discs and calipers yesterday and today bleed the rear brakes using the wife's right foot! (eat your heart out hannibal lecter )
so the next on list todo was have another go at the reverse. took the car up driveway parked on street opened bonnet just to look at he engine don know why but it was a random thing to do. Well the bloody enegine was up at one side and shifted hard against the offside wing! how the hell did I not notice it before or did this just happen? The front nearside engine mount sheared in 2 with a 2inch space beween the 2 parts so that put an end to messing about with the gears.
As they said in tropic thunder my mistake was to go full tard
and guess what this is my winter holiday week!

How had I missed this post! I'm amazed it worked at all with the whole engine shifting across.
