driveshaft removal

Post by shimon340 » Mon May 19, 2008 4:22 pm

hi guys,

Due to whining differential or maybe driveshaft bearing I'm planning to replace the gearbox on my 440TD. As this will be a driveway job I'm opting to pull the engine out rather than wrestle the box past the subframe.

however, I note there are some cautionary words regarding the needle bearings of the passenger side /near side driveshaft tripod joint. I guess this concern applies to all 400 and the X40s with the renault derived boxes. May I ask what the problem is? Is it ok to remove the left shaft completely from my box and then use it in the new one?

cheers!

Shimon
