Both manual and automatic transmission are discussed here, including the clutch!

Drive shaft comes out and loses drive

Post by martinholmesuk » Thu Apr 26, 2007 11:40 pm

Well your see it on the movie soon but enough to say we came across a big problem in germay.

The Drive shaft pops out when NOT under load.

Anyone had this problem on autos? It's not the same as the manual g/box setup.

I'll replace it tomorrow as it's caused problems. Clip fucked is my guess.

OK I can answer this Mart

Its the snap rings which hold the shafts in the box.Theyre rings with about 5 mm missing from them. They snap onto the end of the driveshafts.

Mine were popping out last year al the time.In the end I thought the box was fucked, had holiday in 2 days time, couldnt rely on the car,so bought the Paris...ROFL!!!

Turned out it was these. Also, when you push a driveshaft back in,push it in and turn it.I just used to push it in and it worked for me for ages until one day they kept popping out.

As you know my car is same year and model so will apply.
