b18ft onto 300 series gearbox
Hello,
I happen to have a b18ft engine from the 480 and I would like to know if the manual or automatic gearbox from a 300 series bolts onto the b18ft engine.
kind regards

No, the 300 series boxes are not connected to the engine directly. The boxes are above the rear axle. 300 series are RWD.
However, the 1.7 GL and GLT models with 5-speed manual have the same engineblock as the B18FT. So the housing for the driveshaft should fit. But only for a RWD set-up

6 gear mechanical transmision
Hi, colleages,
looking around this topic of compatibilities of b18ft transmissions , what about the 6 gear combination possibilities? No one known, isn't it?
I really have discovered a lot of fuel compsumption saving it you drive as much as posible in the gap 1500-2000 rpm's.

i would freakin love a 300 series with a b18ft, must weight not very much, plus rwd goodness, plus and excellent sleeper: whats worse than driving a saxo and being passed by a 15 yr old 480?
driving a saxo and being passed by a 20 year old 340 GL, which then proceeds to travel sideways round the roundabout!

Yeah, if I was starting from scratch I would have done, but the 340 and 360 have different transmissions, the redblock will only bolt in to 60's. As I've had this '40 for 5 years, I didn't want to swap, the options were the same as you get, 16ver or a B18FT really for bolt in ease. Ta for the heads up on the fuel, it only crossed my mind the other day, I had guessed it probably was if the ignition was tweaked!
