Hi Shimon!

Yes the box fitted is the ZF 4HP-14

They were exactly the same on the 1.7 and 2.0 cars.

On the Turbo models the only difference was the final drive (or diff) gear ratios.

Do you need one,or planning on doing something to yours then?

hello

was just doing a bit of research justin case. My box hold third a little too long sometimes. It sometimes revs 500-1000 rpm at the point it should change gear before an unsmooth change into fourth.

it revs normally to say 2500, the quickly revs uuuuuuunnnnn to 3000 or 3300 then unsmooth jerk into fourth....

Ive been offered an auto box from a turbo.. should be ok right, different diff ratio should be a prob. which way is the ratio? so as to give better acceleration or low revs at cruising speed. my instinct tells me the turbo would have a better acceleration diff... that'll be a smaller ratio Im guessing

thanks for the model number

id like to see what other cars had the box.

the diff is intergral so this diff would be in what ever other cars use the same box??

cheers

shimon

how stuff works has a nice featureon this...

seems the control valve - for fourth, which responds to fluid pressure isnr responding well enough

a simlar problem plagues the 2nd gear control valve of the P2 volvos...

it does it during gentle driving more than enthusiastic..... Volvo change the control valves for the P2 cars.

I wonder if the green book for the 480 auto has any info....

will keep you updated

Hi Shimon

Just a thought.I added a bottle of Lubegard to my ATF every time I changed it.You can buy it from ebay (username oregonperformancetransmission)

This product reduces friction, heat and wear in the box.I swear by it.

The problems you appear to be having sound like sticking valve bodies.I would strongly recommend giving Jimmy a shout at Oregon and get him to ship you over a couple of bottles. Its cheap too!

Steve ;)
