RWD 480

Post by 666VIVA » Thu Nov 09, 2006 12:16 pm

Anyone heard of a Lotus Emmas, basically a Volvo S60. A 2.2ltre 300bhp Lotus engined Volvo.....
Well the 480 has Lotus tuned suspension, would be interesting to put one in a 480.... :kill:
Yes, bulkhead, tunnel and fuel tank move. But rear wheel drive!!!
How many rear wheel drive 480's are there, was shown one with a 740 engine.
Have engine, box, rear axle. need hubs and driveshafts.......
Off to look at a good shell..

If you are seriously looking at doing this then maybe theres some renaults that are rwd and as long as the engines from the f family then its going to be pretty easy to get it to link up to the engine block - space permitting - its rather tight as it is!

its going to take some serious engineering underneath to get it to fit, youll end up putting a complete new floor in, having to reroute the exhaust, possibly the fuel lines etc.. etc..

i guess the question is, is it worth it? i know once it starts going 200bhp+ with the torque the turbos putting out the front tyres do start to struggle but i think its unlikely youll get much more than 200bhp out of the engine reliably without spending a small fortune!

what would be a nice (and possibly easier) project is to get a v6 renault clio engine and drop it in the boot (as it is on the clio) - not sure on the dimensions but you might be able to get the entire clio rear drive shafts/axle etc.. to fit the 480 pretty easily.
