It's like Brasil under the hood!
Four single females to one single male! I'm just curious what these plugs are for?
Female no. 1 comes out of a bundle of three plugs, two of which are connected to .. (is that the alternator?):
no. 2 just lies there in the middle all the way at the front:
no. 3 is on the driverside in the corner behind the front light:
no. 4 is under the windscreen right in the middle and is really a socket, not a plug:
The one male plug is at the passenger side in the corner near the wing mirror:
So what are these plugs doing not being in use? Sorry if this is all basic car knowledge, just getting started on all that and inquiring minds want to know.

Uhm
After owning my car for 16 months I actually stumbled upon this engine bay light earlier this morning to my great surprise.
Otherwise I've long ago given up on trying to find out what all the loose connectors and plugs I find all around the car might be for. There are so many loose wires but all buttons and lights seem to kick off some functions so I am simply afraid to start exploring.
Apparently I'm not the only one................

these cars come with a standardized cabletree. Premade to hook up optional parts later on. Like airco, frontlight wipers, electric windows..
the socket near the windscreen ist just the result of using 1 plastic mold for all of their ignition coils. there is no actual electronic in it for those pins.

Hi Ral, i think i know what some of the plugs are for;
1st pic - on my k plate ES i think that plug went to the lamda sensor before i put an earlier loom in.
2nd pic - I think this is to do with the air con
3rd pic - this is the screen wash level plug. Some people remove the plug as the level light flashes annoyingly when your screen wash gets low!
4th pic - A spare port in the coil which i have never seen used.
5th pic - I believe this is probably a diagnostic port for the car loom.
You'll find other little brown wires unplugged by the alternator and by the main ecu in the right hand corner of the driver foot well. These are plugged together when the car is plugged in to a diagnostic machine i believe. They should be left unplugged any other time....
Hope that helps
Regards, Edd
