pop up motor taken apart

Post by martinholmesuk » Wed Nov 09, 2005 5:29 pm

I have just removed the rubber like cover off the motor. I found plaster like material under the rubber :?

Removed the metal cover (used angle grinder) The connection under is very bad.

Has anyone else here messed around and got them to work again?

Just out of interest Mart - what was the problem - the connections or worn teeth/cog/splines?

Stu.

Did not pop down from time to time then just did not pop down again :cryhard:

I'm thinking those connections tell the motor when it's up or down so maybe thats the problem.

I've got the same prob with my drivers side. Looks like AguaMoose has too. o O (wonder if it's the weather that does it). The passenger side went last year...

Hence my post, on "What made you drive home special".

Last time fixed them there was a tragi-comic moment. I spent ages fitting the motor. So chuffed I'd got the job out the way I jumped behind the wheel, flipped the switch and hey presto....
Offside up, Nearside down.
Nearside up, Offside down.

I'd fitted it in the wrong part of it's f*cking cycle!

My passenger side one's been a bit slower than the drivers since i got the car, now it only pops up half the time and never goes down (insert comment here)

Got brand new gas struts in now though :D no more wobbly lights

wow, moge, didn't realise it could be that bad!

@martin: yes, if you mean the oxide by the plaster type stuff that is yes. it's the watter penetrated the rubber coating that did it. than watter goes further into the gear part, oxidyzing the contact plate which further grinds the contact pins and kill them. it's the material that this plate is made of is bad. it rusts! bad ingeniring at bosch..

actualy axle grinder is the fastest way to took it apart. one can alwas rivet it back together.
