Hi all,
I have this strange problem and wonder if anyone has some useful tips:
- the rear-window heater won't go on
- the rear-window wiper comes on sometimes when the switch is off
The first thing sounds like a problem with the CEM. Others have had problems with the rear-window heater connector on the CEM, so I should be able to spot the problem when I open the CEM.
It's the second problem, related or not, that I would like some help with. When I keep the popups down the rear wiper doesn't come on by itself. Unless (happened once) when you flash the long range lights. When the popups are raised the rear wiper can come on by itself with no apparent reason, and recently it came on with raised popups when I used the indicator to overtake someone on the motorway. It's not the end of the world but it annoys me () and I would like to fix it. I suspect the CEM here too, but if someone can offer me tips like the relais under the bonnet or something than that might help.
Always hate it when something is not functioning the way it should

Looks like you could do with help from "The big you-name-it topics" Daniel!
Your probably right with CEM if it's not just the rearwiper/heater - can't help you there sorry as not my forte, but have you checked your wiring loom where it exits the body (at the top of rear tailgate) - wires can snap internally with the movement of the bootlid and being exposed (if the rubber outer sheathing has split) - causes problems - bad parking on the rear wiper in my case!
Good luck with it.
Stu.

Hi,
thanx, yes - the you-name-it topics would be a good idea here, but I thought 'hey, why not try and get some extra info for that topic'
I forgot to mention I also had the rear-wiper go on continuously by putting the car in reverse (and not having any wiper switched on...). @Suddy: I kicked the cover of the CEM once while driving and the rear-wiper stopped misbehaving for a while, so it does sound the most logic. Will check the CEM definitely this weekend...

Re: Strange electrics - CEM issue?
That's not CEM failure. The wires, near tailgate, are broken. Check it and renew wires; you'll have the problem solved.
My 480 had exactly the same problem.

Re: Strange electrics - CEM issue?
I have this rear wiper parking issue on my new paris blue car. I'm going to attempt to check the wiring and if that fails then try the CEM from my black car.
Hopefully this will shed some light on the crazy wiper situation...
