Diagnostics not working and SRS light

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

Diagnostics not working and SRS light

Post by GCooper » Tue Aug 24, 2021 12:33 pm

I have an SRS warning light and the diagnostics box isn't working so I can't find the problem, I followed the advice on here about plugging the wire into connector 7, turning the ignition on but leaving the engine off, and then holding down the button 1-3 seconds but the light didn't flash.

Can anyone tell me how to make the diagnostics box work, tell me what I'm doing wrong, or give general advice?

I'd rather not just take the SRS bulb out but it looks like I might have to to pass the MOT

Does the diagnostics box work on any of the other positions? Or is it completely dead? Depending on that the advice will differ.

Without more, I'd suggest that your SRS problem likely to be the contact reel spring behind the steering wheel...

I think none of the positions work
