Hi all,
Was out in the celeb the other day and couldn't get the wipers to work. As everything else seemed fine, I assumed it was the fuse.
Had a wee look today and realised that none of the stalk functions are working, wipers, washers and rear wipers.
Checked fuse 6 as the kid says and fuse 9, I'm think it was. And both fine. Tried new ones anyway, but nothing.
I also noticed that the rear view mirrors are not adjusting also.

Thoughts? Other things to try?

If nothing on the stalk is working, and there’s not a fuse gone, it could be the stalk itself.

Doesn’t explain the mirrors of course….

They could be random coincidences.
Having a wee look at the instructions on the cem diagnostic, see if I can work it out.

That is odd, mine played up yesterday only the wipers all went on simultaneously with no stopping them, which means a new CEM is in order, however your problem could be related to the stalks methinks...

Without checking I think they must be random coincidence.

Wipers are CEM controlled but it could well be the stalk - I have a spare if you want ind to try. Mirrors...have you disturbed the centre trim round the handbrake?

Sorry, its been a wee while.
Checked all my fuses and all seemed OK.
I managed to work out a bit of the self test, I had no position 4!
I managed to put it through the full cycle and the both sets of wipers and the washers work , so it must be the stalk, hopefully.

Does anyone have one?

Replacement stalk received, cleaned and fitted - Still nothing.

Had another look at the fuses and both seemed fine.

Took the relays under the bonnet out one by one and cleaned and fitted - just in case. Nothing.

The arthury offered me another CEM - so hopefully we can try that out soon.

With a little help from Arthuy, he buzzed the relays and we managed to get the wipers AND mirrors going. It looks like the relay k is a bit flaky as they mostly now work. There were also a few brown wires, that looked like they melted a little.

I'm about to look for the relay part numbers, but if anyone knows them, could they let me know.

Brown wires are typically earths.

This diagram is the five pin version showing the difference between the relay pins, but the 4 pins are the same without the centre pin (87a).

Just in case anyone stumbles across this post with the same issue the part numbers for the correct 4 pin relays are below.

Volvo: PN 472210/01

One of the few parts you can probably get at halfords.
