Heated window

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

Heated window

Post by just_somebody » Thu Dec 03, 2020 9:37 am

Hi all, still trying to get to grips with 480 ownership and battling with issues.
Anyway the heated rear window hasn't worked since I got the car. No light comes on the dash when I press the button but I do hear a clicking from the passenger footwell so presumably the switch is working and power is getting to the relay?? Also the rear wiper does not rest normally and stops half way across the screen and it needs a second go to return back to normal.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated as I'm starting to lose faith and maybe should have let the car go to someone more mechanically minded :D

Open up the rear hatch and take a look at the wiring at the top of the screen.

It should look like this:

What you've probably got is a load of broken, exposed wiring....

it might look like Jeffs photo, but all the wires could well be broken within , usual 480 fault.

wiper might be dicky, not parking etc
