Tailgate wiring loom split
The wiring loom for the tailgate on my car has split in line with the tailgates hinge, where it exits the roof and enters the rear glass. Broken copper wires as well, not just the rubber surround. Has anyone had a replacement tailgate loom made up? Just thought I'd ask before I venture into getting one made up somewhere!

Re: Tailgate wiring loom split
didn't get a new one made but manged to fix it
I carefully pulled the wires out from around the strip in the rear tail gate ,
cut open the block of rubber where it goes through into the roof space,
spliced it together and then made sure that the joins were all in the roof space ,
covered it in self amalging tape and so far (fingers crossed) all is OK.
the REAL issue is/was that ALL the wires are black!!!

Re: Tailgate wiring loom split
In theory if you could buy the connector, a new loom could be pretty simple to make up.
Keep threatening to do mine, but until it stops working, it can just stay on the "to do" list.

Re: Tailgate wiring loom split
Thanks Alan 480 & Jifflemon,
I have a replacement tailgate that came with a ton of bits 10 years ago, though the harness was cut at the hinge anticipating it was the glass I'd need, but I have a connector from the breakers and the 480 dealer disc with the wiring drawings on. My plan was to piece it all together what I needed, and contact an auto electrician to get one made up. At present on the car, it has tape round each wire as best that can be done but as the copper wires are split and straying all over the place I'd rather do it sooner that later it case of a short
