Rev Counter Inoperative

Post by jamescarruthers » Wed Apr 25, 2018 7:19 pm

Does anyone have any bright ideas about getting the rev counter to work?

I've changed the crank sensor and that didn't help. I've heard that the needle might be stuck. Other than that, I'm stumped.

I don't have any wiring diagrams and to be honest don't exactly know how it works other than counting pulses!

I had an issue with the rev counter and it turned out to be the connectors on the back plate of the instrument cluster.

As far as I remember there are four connectors: long metal pins that extend from the counter “module” and slide into sockets at the electronic board (i.e. the backplate of he cluster). I fixed mine by squeezing the sockets since they got loose and they did not grab the pins correctly.

Ah, okay. I can get the instrument cluster out pretty quick so I'll have a go with that. Thanks!‎
