Oiltempsensor spooky

Post by amazontommy » Wed Sep 14, 2016 8:17 pm

My car starts to show STOP alarm for oillevel/temperature after a minute or two. The car is a -88 turbo. Disconecting the sensor gives the exact same behaviour. My question is weather I have a malfunctioning oiltemp/level sensor or a wiring issue?

I'd say dicky wiring, assuming that you have checked that he oil level is OK :-)

ours does it on & off, so don't pay much heed to it , also water temp some days never changes from COLD, although the oil gets to 70 or 80 !

but as long as speedo / rev counter are working happy days

Mine is starting to do the "always cool" water temperature, though I know it's somewhere 80-85°C.

Any way of solving that. I mean before I send my tacho to Brinkie to have the speedo repaired :wall:

Either the sensor or the wiring is at fault, the STOP signal is given if the info centre measures too low resistance or if the input is shorted to ground.
