Also there is no way of sending parcels cheap, as DPD has not yet resumed delivery to the UK (expected to resume service end March, but these dates have been pushed back twice already) and DHL still offers next-day delivery only at inflated prices. While it still can be sent cheap through PostNL/Hermes, you will run the risk of your precious instrument cluster will be dumped somewhere in an industrial estate, because the Hermes driver can't be bothered to deliver it to you. Or plays football with it.
Well, there is a silver lining round the dark Brexit clouds... PostNL has ousted Hermes and now hands their parcels over to Parcelforce, which is good old Royal Mail! Price is tiny bit higher, but it arrived within 3 business days. DHL still works with inflated prices and DPD still doesn't post to the UK.
It is very important that we fill out the forms well. Mark it as a gift (otherwise we have to pay VAT + customs clearance fee) and mark its value at no more than £30. This is fully legal, as no money has been changed hands prior to posting the instrument cluster. (And then the cluster is legally MINE, muhahahahahahah! )

This is good news Robert and thanks for reporting back.

I’m my experience ParcelForce are fabulous in the UK and shockingly bad out of the UK— I guess it depends who they partner with in NL. So this sounds good for the return segment.

They are partnering with PostNL in Netherlands, so that's all good news. Due to coronavirus there has been so much insurgence in parcel volume while everyone is working at home; their white van driver puts the parcel on the doorstep, rings, waits in his van until I open the door, we wave and he goes on. We're lucky to have a good one, one day he couldn't find the parcel I was supposed to receive according to his handheld computer, he asked if he could come back after he's done his rounds at 9pm. I agreed of course, at 9:15 the door bell rang: there he was with his private car (a battered 20 year old Skoda Fabia) and the missing parcel. Even for the shit pay they're receiving, there are still people who have work ethic. :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I was hit with a £116 import charge on my rear lights from the 480 guys from France

As has been mentioned, I think it's vital that the customs documents are completed well.....with items ideally described as being a gift

And 2 days later DPD have still not actually delivered the package ......... :badmood:
