Radio remote wire location

Post by WhiteWolf » Wed Sep 23, 2015 10:24 am

Hi all..
I nearly lost the car the other day due to my stupidity. The problem basically is the ignition on wire to the car stereo has lost all its insulation all the way up to the loom.. I can't really get to it without dash removal..
So... I was wondering if anyone knows where the wire originates from.. I want to snip it at source and run a new wire from the location...
Cheers...

The blue wire from fuse 25 is the ignition feed to the radio. Fuse 25 also feeds the air con and/or heater (white/black wire) so can’t just be removed.

This info is from the 1991 wiring diagram which looking at your profile should be correct. However there were a few changes around this time so may not be accurate.

Look at the fuse box diagram or try disconnecting fuse 25 and if it kills the radio and air con and/or heater it should be the right one.

Thanks for the reply..
I need to change that profile information. It's actually a 92 registration.
I looked at the diagram and found the clock, hazards, and instrument illumination for the cluster were on the same loop.. So like you say I couldn't just cut the origin.. What I've done is cut the exposed wire and bridged off of the clock illumination switch.. It's done the job nicely.. I checked with a multimetre that it powered up with ignition.. As its only powering a relay it will be fine..
It's the red and brown wire for reference.
