Dash lights

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

Dash lights

Post by ton246 » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:16 am

I've not had this car long, but have noticed that the dash lights for the fan speed control switch, clock & the info centre switch are not illuminated, how would I be able to check the bulbs, do I need to take the dash out or can the switches be removed individually ? Many thanks.

They just pull out from the dash as seperate units, with bulbs in the back of each.

Although, the Info Centre switch isn't illuminated.

Thanks for your reply, is there any special technique to removing them ? Clips , lugs etc ?

Not really.
Just something like a small scraper or something else with a flat blade to gently lever them out.

A flat headed screwdriver would work, but may leave a mark.

They seldom put up a fight though to be honest, they're only held in by little spring lugs.
You could probably pull them out by hand. I have before!

Just FYI, the hazard warning switch is a different wattage to the rest. I think it's 0.36W and is rather difficult to get hold of but looks silly with a 1.2W (which everything else is).
