Window Regulators...recommendations.

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

It depends what is broken. If it's a mangled cable and a broken clip you can fix it yourself with a bit of trial and error.

I did mine the other week with the following:
- Universal brake cable for the fatter stop ends and cable (Halfords £2.99)
- Hardmann Double Bubble (£5ish) to glue the smaller stop ends on
- Small stop ends made from tubing (I used brass tubing from B&Q cut to size. If you take the old cable you can compare diameter like for like.)
- A few washers (Found)
- Grease

The tricky part for me was where i had to create a new clips thus making the length of the new cable different. So there was a bit of trial and error to remove the slack out of the cables. If you want a guide I'm finishing off the drivers side this week, so let me know.

B

Edit: Updated adhesive.

I just wanted to give an update... Araldite sucks... It looses strength on hot days and comes unstuck. I have since upped my game and gone for Hardmann Double Bubble Engineering Adhesive.

Update: Nope all glue sucks! It melts in the heat. I've now use solder.

1. Drill a hole in wood to similar depth and width of orignal end
2. Melt solder into hole (keep solder melted by sticking soldering iron down the hole as you feed in soder)
2b. Keep water near by incase the wood catches fire
3. When the hole is full of solder, drop wire in the dead center and hold until cool
4. With the cable firmly in the hole add melt more solder to finish off the plug until it reache the top of the hole
5. Once cool, pull the new plug out

It will look a little medieval but it seems to be doing the job.
