LED Started flashing

Post by Slash01 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:56 pm

The little red LED above the black central vents in the console surround has never flashed before.
I believe it should flash to show that the alarm is working and though the alarm does work (I set if off the other week by accident) the light has never flashed.
Today I removed the small panel the light is in and took out the board with the led and the resistor on, then put it all back together. Curiosity was the reason.
Well tonight I took a quick drive to a relative's and when I came out to the car to come home a noticed the LED was flashing. It stopped as soon as I unlocked the doors and only started up again once I'd locked up after getting home.
Have I inexplicably fixed the alarm LED or does it indicate something is wrong? As it's flashing quite quickly as the Video I took shows. The only other thing I did on the drive was to switch on the heated seats to see for certain if the passenger one works, which it does.

Here's the link to the Video:

Oh thanks for that. Yeah I just thought it was flashing a bit quick, as other cars with an LED Alarm light flash slower.
Now on to fix some more electrics ;)

I disconnected it, it's pointless, distracting and may attract the wrong attention.

Round my way maybe it'll show the kids that it has got an alarm, then maybe they'll stop going near it.
The passenger side is now full of scratches, none of which were there when I brought it.

i will be bringing a spare led with the other goodies on sunday slash, you might as well plug a fresh one in. i think it flashes faster to show the alarm has been activated, or could be caused by a bad connection not giving it full voltage.

Well as of yesterday it has stopped working again.
I removed it again and the board was loose in the clips, however it now doesn't clip in properly. I think the resistor has heated up and melted one of the prongs that hold the board in place. And the resistor has now probably blew.
