Extra Gauges Fitted but wont light up??

Post by knight » Thu Dec 12, 2013 9:33 pm

Am i missing something simple here.
Fitted the extra oil and volt gauges today and they work lovely......however no illumination.
Bulbs are all good as are the contacts.
Any ideas to remedy this would be most welcome.
Cheers Kev

Kev you can operate both from either a 4 or 6 connector by adding or joining wires.

Hi Jim, Sorry yes.
White connector block for 6 pins(only 4 wires running to it) and 6 pins on the gauge unit.
Hope that made sense :)

I imagine the 4 wires are
earth return
voltage (signal to voltmeter)
signal from oil sensor
live wire

the return and live will power the lights
so if I am correct there should a brown wire (earth) and a live wire which can be used to feed the 2 empty pins which should be the lights.

Now this is me only thinking about how the wiring should go to test my ideas you need to take the meter unit out disconnect and use a multimeter to check the connections or look up a wiring diagram .

That is what I would do anyway.
