Constant passenger side fan

Post by gentlegiant » Wed Nov 27, 2013 12:35 am

I'm now the proud owner of a '95 480 Celebration and since getting it I'm keen to address a couple of minor issues. One is that there is a constant fan sound - I've opened the bonnet and it's the fan directly in front of the passenger seat in the open "well" - far right side as you look back at the engine from the front end. This didn't run constantly in my previous 480 so I wondered if there was a fault here and whether you had any ideas as to how I might fix it? As always, any suggestions would be welcome...

Hello there and congratulations on your purchase :D

I think the fan might run all the time intentionally, at least when the air con is on.....?

Jamesy is right, if you have a celebration, you have air con and therefore the switch doesn't have an off position. You can of course modify the switch or change it with one from a non air-con car. Although surely the designer did this for a reason so I'd be disinclined to change it.

Thanks guys. I wondered if it might be due to the aircon (which isn't on, incidentally) since this seems to be the main difference between the Celebration and my previous 480 ES. It is noisy though so I'm surprised it's deliberate. Guess I'll get used to it...
