Double earth connection??

Double earth connection??

Post by Martin Mc » Sun Nov 17, 2013 11:22 am

I may just be being dim, but can anyone shed any light on this - I took off my battery and tray to clean around the area, and noticed that I appear to have two earth terminals with connections for the battery (see pic). One has a black sheathed cable which appears to connect to the inner wing, and the other, below, has a braided copper cable that connects to the engine bay underneath the airbox and to the gearbox housing.

Now, on reassembly, I can't see a way to connect both back to the single negative post on the battery. Any ideas?

thanks

Martin

The braided copper wire is the correct connection.

I assume you have connected the positive already which shoulbe red.

Can you be more precise about where exactly the "extra earth" goes as it should not exist !

Hello Jim,

It appears to be an extra earth, as it is secured to the inner wing, on top of the braided copper earth. I'll post another (better) picture later, when I've worked out why my garage lights have gone on the blink :)

Cheers
