Full systems failure!
What started off as (I think) a need for a new starter motor has become something much bigger. Sat my 480t in a barn for six months whilst at uni and nothing at all happens now. Not the most waterproof shelter so worried it's fried.
Really want this running for the summer - any suggestions?

Re: Full systems failure!
dead battery
Re: Full systems failure!
Okay so dead battery was a good shout, thanks. I should have definitely checked that first.
What's happening now is the original problem I had - I turn the key, everything lights up and there is a click but no ignition. I read elsewhere that it may be some cables that need wiggling but I've hunted about and can't find anything very accessible that might be right. I wonder whether it might be that the starter motor is busted?
Any suggestions?

Re: Full systems failure!
it can still do that if the battery is not charged enough to turn the engine over, but yes could be starter motor or power supply to it

Re: Full systems failure!
Would I hear the solenoid click if it was the power supply? Surely the clicking means that there's some power getting there somewhere? The battery is definitely fully charged - I won't make that mistake again!

Re: Full systems failure!
first feel down and see that the solenoid wire has not broken it happened to me in pouring rain it breaks at the junction of the metal connector and the wire at the solenoid. If unbroken then....
put car in neutral chock wheels first so it does not roll away , put on handbrake.
next step is to hot wire the starter turn your ignition on at the steering column and touch the "hot wire" see if it turms over . If it does then the problem lies elsewhere.
A quick fix can be a starter button do a search for stone age technology.

Re: Full systems failure!
Where do I find the wire? I had a feel around earlier for something obvious and failed.

Also I'm sorry that this is now in the wrong part of the forum. I don't think I'm able to move it...
