Are CEM1 & CEM2 interchangeable?

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

Are CEM1 & CEM2 interchangeable?

Post by franster » Thu Mar 29, 2012 9:24 pm

Pretty much just that. I need a CEM for my 1991 480ES, and heard somewhere that CEM 1 & 2 could be fitted.

Is this the case, before I go and waste cash on something I can't use?

Thank you in advance, knowledgeable ones :D

Seeing as no one has answered this yet, I'll say that I have not herd of anyone swapping CEM1&2...but I dont know that its impossible.

Certainly they are not interchangeable with CEM3

The short answer is NO - they're not interchangeable as they have some differences in the connections. I don't think the functions differ though and with a few changes in the wiring you might be able to use CEM2 where CEM1 was and vice versa.

CEM3 has major differences in the connectors (and functions).
To be continued...
