Dashboard/clock bulbs
Hi,
Has anyone managed to find a source for these bulbs?
As you see from the link, they are available on fleabay from the states, but at £35 for 5 inc. postage I feel that they are grossly ovrpriced.

Many thanks Jim,
I've just found some that might just fit......not totally sure though!
If they don't I will certainly get back to you via a PM if that's ok?
What do you think about these led replacements?

They are the old style led's and only shoot the light upwards so you will get hotspots.
I am the man when it comes to these types of bulbs believe me. The only place that can supply you with a better t509 bulb then me is crazyled's and they charge £3.99 plus vat and delivery for one bulb! Mine are 80% as bright and have exactly the same light spread for far cheaper. Also brighter isn't alway better. Mine also have high quality contacts for a decent fit.
You won't believe the rubbish they sell on ebay!
Let me fit my dash with all my led's, show you a picture and you can tell me what you think?

Jim the info center part has been cut off my photo, do you have any idea why it does that when I post a photo?!

Re: Dashboard/clock bulbs
Eyup Spree!
didn't I have some snow mats from you?
Anyway....I have already ordered £2.40's worth (including postage), but I take your word that I may have made a mistake...£2.40 wasted!!! Not good for a Yorkshireman!
You don't say how much yours are.....Have to admit that I am not a huge fan of LED replacements as I tried running/side light LED's.....didn't like the colour and they didn't last long either....started flashing after 4 weeks or so!
The one that needs replacing at present though is only the clock bulb....so maybe the light spread or lack of it will not be an issue.
Go on then, talk me into yours!
Regards,
Trevor

heh heh. Yes you got the snow mats from me. You got them ok I trust?
Yeah I'm going to be doing Ice white and also warm white bulbs for the running lights. The warm white will match the standard headlight bulbs better and look oem. The idea is that they do not fry the plastic like the normal bulbs do but that an mot tester will not spot that they are led's. Its all a grey area but I like to keep everything hassle free. I hope mine last longer then four weeks!!! Did you have bulbs with smd's or old school led's?
You may just get away with that bulb for the clock.
The ones I supply are have a single 5050 smd mounted low in the base. This provides a massively greater light spread then the old school type you bought and smd's give a nice crisp light and last far longer the normal led's.
I have been working for months on these as they fit a wide range of cars but also I get moronic corsa and astra owners that buy them and break them so I have tried to make them idiot proof and superior in design. It's not entirely possible but they are certainly massively better then any of the other bulbs sold on ebay and I actually make each bulb by hand right now as its the only way to do it!
Anyway, this gives me an excuse to fit every bulb in my dash with my led's and show you guys the result. I wasn't planning on making a kit for the 480 as I didn't think there would be a market but if the bulbs are that expensive then it may be worth it.

Thanks man but that means that anybody looking at it will have to know how to do that, I would rather they just be able to see the image straight away.

Re: Dashboard/clock bulbs
The nude lamps are cheap and readily available. With a small pair of side cutters snip through the wires holding the faulty lamp into the plastic base and pull out the lamp. Straighten up the wires on the new lamp, slip it into the plastic base and then fold the wires back up over the contacts. Spot of solder and done! Fiddly, but cheaper by far. Don't try this if you have a fist full of thumbs. I've done this heaps of times because the original lamps are dearer than gold in this part of the world.

Many thanks Heavend,
I had considered doing that....will probably take up Jims offer and when next one goes, spend a few minutes and refurb a few.
