I think Gaz is exactly right. From what I've read in VADIS, Volvo have lots of "Keys" which automatically suck out the fault codes from the CEM without having to sit there and count the LED flashes.
If you want to have a go at doing it yourself, this is what VADIS has to say about it:
VADIS wrote:
Test function 1 is used to read out DTCs stored in the ECU of the SRS system
Proceed as follows:
-Insert selector lead in terminal 7 of the diagnostic tester.
-Ignition ON.
-Press the button. Keep it pressed for about 1 second.
-Read off and note the DTC indicated by the LED.
-Press button again to check for further DTCs.
After the readout of all DTCs the memory has to be erased.
-Proceed as follows:
-Press the button for at least 5 seconds.
-Release the button. The LED lights.
-Press the button again for at least 5 seconds.
The DTCs are now cleared.
And these are what the DTC codes mean:
1-1-1 : System is fault free
1-1-2 : Crash sensor - Internal fault
1-2-7 : Warning lamp circuit - Open-circuit or short-circuit
2-1-1 : Steering wheel module - Resistance too low
2-1-2 : Steering wheel module - Resistance too high
2-1-3 : Steering wheel module - Short circuit to battery
2-1-4 : Steering wheel module - Short circuit to ground
Ben.
OK,
How do you know this? Does it flash 3 times? I'm confused to how it tells you.1-1-1 : System is fault free
Really confused now. Are there meant to be led's on each port?2-1-4 : Steering wheel module - Short circuit to ground
I was over Mat's place and it said I had a Accelerator position sensor fault.
I want to re-check this because my car is running bad and feels very dead. I am going to change the auto box oil also.
