elecric window winder cable

elecric window winder cable

Post by tomdoo1 » Mon Jan 26, 2004 8:47 pm

Hello,All,
This is my first post since becoming a member and having read lots of the forums,I,m sure that someone can help.
I am the proud owner of 94GT 2.0 model, having bought it in November.
My problem at the moment is that the cable on the passenger window looks like it has slipped off and is very loose.
Does anyone have a diagram of the mechanism, especially the route of the cable?Any advice would be more than appreciated.
Thanks in advance and regards,
Tom

It doesn't show the route of the cable, but here's a diagram of the mechanism.

Ben.

No problem Tom.

I think I must have been tempting fate by posting that diagram last night though! This morning, my drivers window stopped working!

I could.... but I'm talking about the window on my red '89 480, not the window on my black '93 480 (which Mat kindly found me a replacement mirror bracket for, but I haven't got round to fitting yet!). ..... two jobs for the weekend then!

Ben.

I had to replace both mechanisms for my electric windows. I had a similar problem to you i think, i heard a horrible crunching sound when i tried to operate the windows, and the high tension cable was very loose. This is because both times, a small piece of white plastic which connects the cable to the window lift mechanism has cracked and therefore failed. I found this was quite irrepairable. I hope you have better luck though!

Good luck with it! My cables were in a terrible condition, as was the motor. Let us know how it goes.
