4 5 2 Start interlock

Hi all.
Hope someone can help?
I have a 480 ESi
When I have turned the key to start the engine on a couple of occasions nothing has happened. I don't use the car a lot, sometimes it can be stood for weeks at a time. So I assumed the problem was a flat battery.
But when I ran a CEM the only fault logged was a 452- start interlock.
Can some one explain this?
Are the two related?
I have been a member for years, but this is the first time I have needed to post because all my other prob lems have been sorted previously by other members.

Sounds as if you have an auto. Probably the start inhibitor switch on the gearbox; may only need adjustment.

If the battery didnt have enough to turn the engine over, but still had a little power you would hear a relay click...

According to the CEM3 manual code 452 is the startinhibitor from the antitheft alarm.

Thanks for the reply.
My CEM111 definately says 452 is the start interlock what ever that is?
I don't believe now that the battery was flat because it's held a full charge for the last week, but when I tried to start the car there was just a dull clunk.
Does anyone know what exactly the start interlock is? I can fix most things if I know what they are?

starter needs a whack with a hammer if this fixes the problem then you need a new starter. sounds like the solinoid is throwing but not fully.

bkf uk is correct had that error code when sometimes I turned the ignition and nothing then afterv a couple of key turns engine fired up , this was despite the car having a fairly new starter. Some of the teeth had flattened and this was causing the problem put an old starter in and bingo no more problems.
