Keyhole illumination?

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

Keyhole illumination?

Post by no_data » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:42 pm

1. All I have as a guide is the download manual on this site to go by which is an older model but says there is a keyhole illumination if you lift the door handle? Not on my GT there aint :( ??
2. Drivers side electric window not working but can hear motor, however when you open drivers door there is like a whirring noise for about 3 seconds from near the door, could it be connected? (how vague is that)
3. Long range lamps only work with full beam (when blue light on) & when flashing ?

I apologise in advance for the posts I will be putting up but these are all the silly things I cannot find anywhere without proper manual for my 95 gt. :?
If I want to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet I will put shoes on my cat

number 3 that is ok thats how it works.

number 2 your window regulator is goosed but motor still works an easy fix replacement needed (whole unit).

number 1 more problematic will need to get back on that one.

You can find owners manuals on the download page. Unfortunatly the only GT manual is in Dutch. On K-jet.org site you can find more useful 480 downloads, especially the 480 maintanance file.

@BDB;
as you're from Poland you probably understand german. If so have a look at this site, lots and lots of 400 series manuals, some dutch, some english but most of them in german. Have fun!

Hello,
I am looking for a description of how the light in the driver's door or the door lock switch, Keyhole illumination can be changed.
How do I get the panel off which is inside before the lock?
Thanks for the help

You need to remove the inside door panel first. It's not that hard but someone else will be able to explain it better the I can.

You remove the coverplate by squeeze the cover, and move it back and forth. the only thing that holds it in place, is to clips at the interior panel. move it about to it gets loose. Remember to pull the red thing out when refitting the cover

Easy job! :D

Let me dig up this old topic—I have a question related to it :)

It seems that my keyhole illumination is always on. Should it be like that? I am a bit worried that it is slowly draining my battery :)

Luckily, keyhole illumination is by LED so won't be draining you battery any more than the alarm LED.

I'm afraid I have no clue on how to fix it. It should be switched on when the door is locked and you pull the handle towards you, then go off after a time delay. Maybe a switch in the handle? Timing probably controlled by CEM. That's just guess work though!

Has anyone tried to replace the bulb inside the lock?

Stripping the cylinder seems a suicide job to me....

There is no bulb, it is a LED and should last almost indefinitely.
In case the LED remains on, I would try and swap the CEM. I could throw in a CEM into the package with the speedometer (which will be on its way this week-end probably; the ABS issue has been resolved and I am expecting the Paris Blue back this week, yay! :D )
