Dead headlights

Post by Hammer480 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 5:20 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a small problem with the headlights on my 480, they have stopped functioning... I suspect a loose connection somewhere, but don't know where to begin. Help is much appreciated :D

You mean that they don't open up?

Check the pop-up relay under the hood, left side of the car, you must look for the plastic cover which looks like triangle. Tall relay is under this cover.

If you will not find the solution of your problem, you can open the pop-ups with using knob placed near to the battery (left side) and near to the washer reservoir (right side)

The bulbs and fuses look fine, but which is the headlamp relay?

The headlights and pop ups have their own relay. In position A is the headlight relay and in position F is the tall pop-up relay. And don't trust the fuse if it looks ok, replace to be sure!

I tried to wiggle around with the headlamp relay, and it came to life :D

Thanks for the input

Well, it became. Turbo blinded today. It started smelling smoke inside the car and darkness reigned.

Tall relay under the hood is OK. Fuse in fusebox too. I suspect short circuit in the indicators/lights lever. Whether it is necessary to dismantle the steering wheel to replace this element?

Is it possible to make headlights working for a while?

Awww  Jim, you scared me

I suspect indicator/lights switch/lever*, because I had problem with lights from one week. To yesterday I had to maneuver with the indicators switch to turn the headlights on.

*I don't know the name of this element, You turn on the indicators or switch low/high beam on the headlights.

if you need replacement wiring for the burnt out wires let me know exactly what you need and I can remove it from the loom in the picture.

Yesterday I found the problem :)

Microswitch in indicator stalk which is responsive for the long/short distance light was cooked. Now, only thing I need is a complete stalk :D

I don't know whether the UK version is similar to the european, so I will not bother you Jim

By the way... thanks for the English lesson :hopping:

It's a good thing someone actually posted images of the wires. I was hoping to find photos of them actually all connected, showing the insides of the car, because I'm having the same problem.

Thanks.:)

Can't still seem to find images or the wires positioned correctly inside the car.
