front wipers

sometimes they stop in the wrong place usually when cold...is this more likely to be the stick rather than the cem? Ta

Oh ok. So I take it there isn't a separate relay for the wipers then and if it is the switch does it mean a new motor is needed??

There is probably a switch built into the motor. Activated by a cam
that's what tells the motor when it is in the 'park' position.

You might be able to strip it open and repair it. I've never done a volvo
one so can't be sure.

It's worth a try.....

I'm thinking switch on steering column or cem?? Please suggest something someone....although she will still get through an mot with the wipers the way they are it's damn annoying having them stop in silly places, although I can stop them when they are right at the top and drive round it 'racing car' mode  (but that still looks silly)
Thanks people ;)

Rachel does the wiper park in the (wrong) same place everytime?

If yes then it can be one of several things :

The simple/cheap thing :D

reposition the wipers so that they start in the correct position and switch on (wet screen first saves the glass) let it wipe then switch off if it is only the start position of the wiper arm assembly that has come out of sync then the problem should have corrected itself.

The oh sh** thing

so its not that could be the cem or the wiper switch so try a replacement switch first preferably borrow one then try again.

Still no joy then its the oh DEEPER sh** option maybe its the cem . borrow one and test.

If you were near glasgow I could lend you the parts to check .

Hi Jim
It parks where ever it wants, and in a different time every time.

I just need to source a switch and cem to try now

Resurrecting this old thread as there's no happy ending 😂
Rachel, did you get to the bottom of it? I'm having an identical problem and have tried a cem, 3 spare motors I had and a spare switch, (unsure whether the parts were Ok) i could check them in my GT
But a fast track diagnostic woukd be great 👍🏻😝

I had same issue, I'd unplugged the module on LHS to do some work (behind the trim with the bonnet pull) and after I removed it to see if I could see any faults, viewed the relays toggling correctly after plugged it back in (sitting in footwell) and 'bingo' !!

so maybe not a great help.

on mine the wipers stopped AS SOON as power removed ,so a wash wipe became wash with wipe, then had hold wiper switch it to get correct parking

I took motor cover off as well, nowt to see, but moved the grease around a wee bit to make me feel happier :?
