Sorry about the lateness, but here we go:

Yes that wire was definately the power lead for the IC. So it is a grey and red sleeved wire, of which there are two and you want the thin one. I think it might be either plugged into the back of one of the plugs for the stereo, or it might just run behind where the stereo is and people who cut up the plugs to fit their own radio, mistakenly cut it up as well. Whichever the case, look for a thin grey with red stripe wire and wherever it is connected, check the connection.

I installed my new Panasonic mp3/wma cd-player into my Subaru yesterday. PITA because when they stole my car the little shits broke the wires on the igition so now I have to switches to get the engine running and no ACC postion.

I have to wire 12v always on & acc into one. Blew a fuse by accident but otherwise working good :-)

OK Dumb question but you testing this with the igiton on?

Nice one thanks Rob, I check the oil temperature as a backup, but would like to get it working again as sure it wasn't a big job, if it's the wire you mention might be even better than I thought.

There's another job sorted for this weekend. Those shelves are never going to be put up at this rate! :wife:
