Post by Zoist » Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:19 pm

Hey guys

my info center has ben out of function for some time, but yeasterday I plug it out and cleand the connections ant put it back together.
Now it works, but it keeps saying "STOP" and showing that there is a problem with the water...

http://bilgalleri.dk/alb_vis.aspx?albumid=82007 See picture here

I have tryed to disconnect the sencor on the radiator, but no reaction, the fan works fine. I drove for a little drive and it worked fine. the water level is okay.
realy, I can see no reason for it to tell my this. has anyone a idea what to do?

is your thermostat ok ?

The only time I have got that message was when the water temp went to 135 degrees celcius and I was leaking water very badly.

put info centre onto engine temp and let the engine idle the temp should increase to about 90 ish and drop down then afetr a while thwe temp will rise up and the fan cut in.

Alternatively remove thermostat and place in bucket cover with boiling water and see if it opens up.

when i took the photo i could not move the functions in the info center, it would not react on my temps to move the funcition-button.. I thorough that it was because of the STOP warning, but should i be able to switch between the functions anyway?

I will chek it next time :)

zoist when stop appears it overides all other signals no matter what position you move switch as an ultimate protection it will turn the engine off.

when engine cools down all other functions operate as normal.
no need to take anything apart.

Zoist, do you mean that the 'STOP' warning is always on, even when you turn the key to the position that the engine is not on (and cold) but the dash lights up?

I have just tried again today, the STOP is always on, and is indicating that it is the water that is the problem....
it is on when it is could and has not been started for a few days.

so always on....

what can do this?

What would be the default that the infocentre displays if the temp sensor is not providing a signal-might it be 'stop' just to be safe?

What makes you say that eric ?

I think you could be write my info centre works fine in the morning when its cool but after its been in the car park all day and its really warm inside it wont work !

If the screws are too tight it may be that when things get hot it gets even tighter causing the prob ?

Dan.

I have just tried to test the system with a new temp. sensor on the engine block, but neither works.... please i beg you all....

what can I do???? can I try to reset something? it is a 1,7 ES from 1987... please help me!!!!

BTW i have noticed that the idle is about 900-1000 rpm, and is NOT stable when the engine is could. can it be the idle control? there is no difference when I disconnect it. I have ordered a new one. but can it be it?

Problem solved

Sorry guys, the wire from the temperature sensor was cut, and a connection was made by the faulty wire.
the wire is replaced and connected correct. now everything is OK!

except the idle.... but thats is another story.
