Removing airbox

Post by MatBat » Mon Dec 15, 2003 11:12 am

Hey all,

Upon closer inspection I noticed that the pipe leading to the front of the car (cold air intake pipe) was disconnected, meaning that the engine has been sucking in hot air from the engine bay.
Does anyone know the correct procedure for removing the AirBox withou breaking the rubber dampers that hold it in place?

it's very easy. take a gripper an pull the cone end and pull. Now you also pull the box and it will go out easily. make it with every cone end and the box will be free

Thanks! I didn't want to break them off, as I am sure they would be hard to replace. :D

Under my airbox there is a short tube and it goes back into the engine bay.

Is this wrong?

That and the pipe between the airfilter and the throtle housing (broken off connecter, for a pipe which leads to something unknown, but looks important)
Fixed the pipe under the battery, and resealed the connector (sort of) But I am not very happy with it, so may tri and find a new one. :dunno:

Hi there!!

By now you may have noticed that the pipe for the cold air has a strange size and it is not easy to fit on the air box because when u try to locate the air box back in its place it simply wont go....therefore u must take the battery out and then u have to unscrew the batery´s base (the metal part)...then u will find the hole that the pipe is ended....when u install the pipe on the airbox be aware to tight it with a forced join ( ring or something like that) because it is most likely that it will go off again..after u install the air box put back the metal base in it place and then the battery....the other pipe which goes into the egine is after the air mass flow meter....be carefull u need to tight this join as best as u can cos in any case there is an air leak means that ur idle will be bad....

luck

Thanks Sakis480

Should have reposted sooner. I managed to get it all back together without removing the battery :D and all seems to be well.

Many thanks though :)
