Fuel pump for early 1.7 non turbo
Hello again!
After 3-week long struggle to get a new timing belt, I finally got the car back from service, and 100m from home the car died. After an evening I concluded it was the fuel pump as if you give it 12V directly it just makes a clunk, but doesnt spin (Tried both ways).
I read somewhere there is a difference in fuel pumps of early and later cars? My car is from 1987, Should be with B18F motor from factory, but not sure anymore because the timing gear that eventually fit was from a B172 off the 300 series cars... It is still fuel injected though so i dont know anymore...
If anyone has suggestions for fuel pumps I would be grateful.

Unfortunately I think this won't help me, on the sellers page it says the pump is meant for cars 1989 and onwards, mine is 1987. Thanks anyway

Took the old pump out, it was a BOSCH 0 580 453 932.

Seems to be another weird/rare part that they used and is NLA.
Maybe someone has a spare one sitting on a shelf? Or has someone with and early car swapped their fuel pump and can give me directions on alternatives?

The different fuel pumps are for the different size petrol tanks. Early cars had a smaller tank so a late pump is physically too big to fit.

Early car fuel pressure is different to later cars. I’ve heard that it doesn’t really matter as the fuel pressure regulator will sort it all out but I’m not convinced.
The pump is the same physical size. It is the level sensor unit that it sits in that it is different between the small and big tanks.
I got a new pump for an early car a few years ago now and took the Bosch number to MPD, who contacted Bosch and got one for me as they were a Bosch agent or something.
No way you won’t be able to get an equivalent.

Well today I talked with every big parts supplier in Estonia, all of them said they don't have the correct fuel pump for this car, even the official Volvo dealer said they only deal with original parts and those are not available anymore so...
The only option I have is the official Bosch importer but I was told they only work with companies. Will try that tomorrow, if that fails I will just try to make due with some similar aftermarket pump.

Check my post in my 480 diary, for the inlet and outlet sizes for the inlet and outlet, and find a suitable pump form a catalog or from another car.
Fuel pressure should be close to OEM, but i have very good results with my aftermarket 255lph warlbro pump. Fuel pressure regulator is stock as of now, but will be replaced soon with an adjustable one to have more control.
