Damned
I knew it was there somewhere but could not find it. Would you change the water pump as well? Not sure where to find the proper one.
Cheers

Re: Cambelt
Yes, change the water pump and use that as an opportunity to change the thermostat and flush & replace coolant (and the heater matrix!!!!!).
What temperature does Skip usually run at? Should sit in the 90's on the info centre display. I've had two thermostats get tired with age and made the cars run colder than they should have.

Re: Cambelt
Water pump is nothing special. Put your details in at Mister-Auto and choose a decent quality one e.g. Valeo.
Maybe Jeff can advise other decent makes?

Re: Cambelt
That's too cold, definitely change the thermostat at the same time as the water pump

He's a French man, with a French engine, French parts manufacturer is the ONLY answer.jamescarruthers wrote: ↑Wed Jun 27, 2018 9:54 amWater pump is nothing special. Put your details in at Mister-Auto and choose a decent quality one e.g. Valeo.

Valeo part numbers are:
819862 for the thermostat
506019 for the water pump

Hi all
Quick question: Do you need a tool to de-tension the aux belt for replacement?

Re: Cambelt
No, for the aux belt you should be able to judge it without tools, it isn't mega critical. I think your later car has a much better tensioning system that is on a threaded bar so you can wind in on and off easily.
A mechanic will be able to judge this from experience if you are leaving it to them. If you are doing it yourself, feel how tight it is now by trying to turn the belt 90 degrees between your thumb and forefinger and get it roughly the same when you replace it. Check it again in a few days after it has bedded in.
