Hello,

I understand a late 480 T requires a cat to pass an mot, but just out of curiosity what would the actual difference be without running a cat? Noticable??

Many thanks

Been having the same thoughts myself, particularly after getting the ecu done!

My thinking is that the cat is expensive; better having it being used once a year and run a decat the rest!
It may not give any improvements, but it can’t make it worse!

Without cat the exhaust gases meet less resistance so the flow has more speed and this benefits in general the behaviour of the engine. Whether a few hp's are noticable is the question.
When "the ecu has been done" it is a little different. Because the turbo gains more speed at low revs thanks to the speedier airflow the resulting higher torque, combined with some adjustments, makes the car run smoother at low revs/high gear.

Thank you Robou, yes, mine has a richmod. I like very much do to without the cat, just thinking of options.
