aux belt change B18FTM non airco

aux belt change B18FTM non airco

Hi guys,
Changing aux drive belt on B18FTM non aircon do I need the crank tool as per haynes manual? I'm assuming this isnt a difficult job to do ?

if you mean the lock for crankshaft?
I used a long plain bolt in through the side of block making sure that it picks up the correct hole not the balance hole.

slacken off the crankshaft nut BEFORE you insert the rod! it might be tight , in fact it WILL be tight, I had to use a big extra long lever on the nut and SWAMBO with foot on brake in fifth.. . . . . .

No he means one of the 2 belts which operate the water pump and alternator not the timing belt.

From memory you dont need a special tool rtarely believe the HBOL.

However you may on occasion cuss a little. :lol:

Thanks all, are there 2 belts to be changed ? Not including timing belt

Oops just read its non aircon so only one belt thats so much more easy than the air con which has 2 . It is an easy job.

HBOL is totally duff. :shock:

should have read properly, misread it as timing belt ;)

any way the hint is correct in case the timing belt is also to be changed, which is always worth doing if NO record of when it was done!
