Removing a dump valve

Post by gltease » Wed Aug 20, 2014 9:24 am

Hi All,

Bought the car few weeks back, one of the mods is a dump valve, I reckon the car would be better off without it, and I'm in the process of putting the car back to stock..
What is likely to have been removed from the engine that will need to be put back..?

Also noticed this at the back, shouldn't there be a pipe there? (right of picture)

Cheers !!!

Hi,
regarding the pic, what is missing is the tube of the fuel injectors cooling system.

Thx for that, will try and look it up in Haynes, or if anyone has a spare they can sell me would be great.

Incidentally, she is hard to start on a cold morning <10c, no problem starting at 16:00 when I'm off home, ruling out ignition as it seems to be temp related (just a guess)

I know this is an oldish thread but I noticed the same pipe missing on mine yesterday. I was shocked at first and started to panic. Why would this pipe be missing? I couldn't work out where it was supposed to go to but it doesn't look right to me. The more I look at the engine the more I think it's been messed around with, like the exposed vacuum pipes all over the place. Is this a common pipe to be missing? Is there an obvious reason for it's lack of presence? Thanks.

it's actually belongs to the injector cooling system, this was either not fitted or removed by Volvo at the dealerships or during routine service, apparently caused more issues than they solved, issues with idling an so on, and not much use north of the equator. Sounded a bit like a hair dryer during operation..

Ok, that's put my mind at ease, although I was looking forward to blaming that gaping hole for every single problem with the car. I suppose I'll have to blame something else now. Thanks for the info

Yeah, I blame the lack of that pipe for my rusty rear arches.

2.0 N/A too, and they don't even have them!

Lol
