Adjusting Idle speed

Had a look around the forums and found a lot of quite techie information, but nothing that gave me any clear insight into how to adjust the tickover / idle speed on a 1721cc 480s. At the moment the car ticks over fine when cold, but on warming to normal running temp, it refuses to drop below 1300 rpm. I don't want to do any damage, or tinker unecessarily, but do feel that there must be a simple cause of the fast idle.So, any tips for things I could do to seek a solution?

Here is a guide that might be useful but this assumes that everything is working OK......for example the coolant temp sensor or idle control valve can give incorrect idle speed if not working correctly.

Check the wiring to the coolant temp sensor to the right of the head as you look from the front.

It had broken on my b18ft and had me and James stumped for ages!!

Basically, the cable is under too much tension from where it joins the rest of the loom and when the cable breaks, the ecu receives no signal from the sensor, so presumes the engine is cold.

Mine ran fine until it started to warm up, then got progressively worse the warmer it got.
