Fuel pump on b18ft doesnt prime, it only works when cranking.
Does the car have fresh fuel?

Do you still have the cold start sensor plugged in on the head under the throttle?

hi ' yes fresh fuel and cleaner but the cleaner was put in later ' yes connectors all seem fine altho i had a few that had come way but resoldered etc 'when it had started and blip the throttle it also cuts out 'once running for id say 30 secs seems to start but not great ? ' thought the early turbos fuel pump primed on ignition ? no cat so no lambda sensor '89 turbo 'and thanks for all replies

aha B18FTM...sorry thought it was with a cat. My 91 has one.

My 93 car has bodged wiring to the sensor Sparky mentions above. Maybe worth checking this is getting back to ECU?? There is a thread on here somewhere I'll take a look

The thread I was talking about...

http://www.freewebs.com/hjkort/480ecus.htm....pin 2 of the ECU is for the coolant sensor...may be easier to check it that way

http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/v ... =3&t=16611....and resistance values.

But maybe not coolant sensor? Rough running.....spark plug gaps, make them smaller for the Richmod! Just guessing :) if the coolant temperature is not showing on the info panel then I guess that is a good one to start with.

Looking through old posts on the forum it could be a few other things:

ICV
Distributor cap, leads, plugs (you said you changed them but make sure u don't have any duff ones)
Loose wire/bad connection including earths....easy to write not easy to find
MAF
Air leak (does the turbo gauge take a long time to get to minus 14 psi when it starts up? If so get the Easystart out. Maybe thin black pipes on the inlet manifold...)
Clogged injectors or fuel filter

Good luck fella just work through the list and any more u can think of! Will get there in the end :)
