cylinder head question

im looking for some info on the cylinder heads. basically the clutch has gone completely now and no one round hear want's to touch it and the water pumps leaking and the timing belts needing changed and the engine is self has 135,000 on it. the thing is i have a complete engine with 50,000 on and all the service history to go with it so the mileage is genuine but it came from a new model with the bigger flywheel and clutch and had the blue ECU now my car is a 1991 with the orange ECU's i know i need to swop the flywheels over. now i have rebuilt the spare cylinder head i had from a 1991 model but (this is the question) will the older cylinder head fit the newer model engine?

I have a similar question, will the cylinder head off an '87 B18E fit a '91 B18EP.
Excuse my ignorance of engines but if i take the head off, do the pistons and springs come with it.

Basically my timing belt went on my '91 480 and was told the pistons had bent and the head would have to be re-planed....very expensive

I have access to a complete B18E engine however, would it be as straight forward as swapping the head and re-aligning the timing

The old Renix ECU is fried and doesnt work correctly on the B18E, There are flywheel and sensor issiues of using a newer ECU.
Perhaps a head swap might be the most straight forward option

the head will go straight on i have just rebuilt my b18ft engine and i know the head will bold on and work fine with the earlier engine, if you are interested in selling one of the engines let me know because i would like a spare one to play around with

Thanks for the replies.
So it may be as straight forward as swapping the head. Has anybody done this procedure to correct damage resulting from a timing belt break?
Im presuming I'd need a head gasket kit, new bolts and a new timing belt (and auxillaries).
Am i neglecting anything else,eg. the pistons themselves, Im not very familiar with the internals of the engine

Looks like il have to look in and see if the pistons are damaged. I cant remember if the mechanic had said if the valves or the pistons or both were bent.
