when warm it runs perfect.

this weekend I am going to change the distributor cap, rotor and spark plug leads. witch sensor is it that you are referring to? the one pin or the 3 pin sensor?

If it ran ok before the new spark plugs....was a mistake made with their fitting?

Check this out http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/v ... 11&t=12966 I had bad cold start issues a while back and it turned out to be the Oil Separator Valve mentioned in reply 7 or 8 I think (thanks to martinholmesuk :D ) Worked for my 480T. I hope that helps ;)

Hi

Well I have found that the rev are too low when I try to could start. It can be helped by adding a little rev the first minute. then it is fine in idle. but the car wont accelerate when could. it has to be in idle for a long about 2-4 minutes, sometimes longer, before the engine will run past 2000 RPM. If I try to hit the gas, it just stops at 2000 rpm and just stop taking rev´s. But when the engine gets warm, there is no problem.

Dos any one has a picture of the mentioned sensors? diaphram and recirc valve? I have to be sure what you guys mean and talk about.
so pictures of the things and where they are placed would be great :)

Hi...here is a picture of the oil separator valve. When mine needed replacing it just caused low lumpy idle when starting from cold until it warmed up. No other issue after that and revs when cold didn't help, so maybe it's not this, but could be part of the problem. If I remember rightly it was about £45 from volvo so not a cheap part.

I was showing the oil seperator valve not idle control valve. The black thing attached to idle control valve. Maybe that's different too then :?

Sorry :(
