A slight screech coming from ??

Once the car's warmed up and you drive with the windows down at like 40mph+ you can hear a slight screeching noise coming from the front n/s of the motor. It sounds like a worn clutch or some think but it seems to drive just fine. No loss of up hill etc. Could be anything like sticking brakes, clutch?
What should I check?

When was the distribution last replaced? Could be the rollers you're hearing, if that is the case replace the distr. asap.

That would make a lot of sence actually as there is a slightly lumpy tick over.
How much would a replacement dizzy cost and where could I get one from cheaply in the UK?

I'm guessing you guys suggest changing the cap, rotor arm and leads? The car had a service about 900miles ago just before I bought it so no point changing the plugs aswell.

It would pay you to remove the plugs so you can determine their condition and give you an idea how well your engine is running . Only takes a few minutes .

I have now changed the leads, cap and rotor arm. The cap was in dire need of changing, the centre pin was stuck in place. The screeching has gone but she's still hunting when she's cold.

The plugs looked fine, no soot or dampness etc.

So why the hunting? I cleaned the throttle body out for good measure as it was slightly gunked up.
