wish i could help you. on most 80 ties turbo's there is a fuel gas recirculation system, it sucks of the gas above the fuel in the tank, gets it through a carbon filter and uses it again. In my car the filter sits covered up in front of my right front wheel.
One advice is to download the parts catalogue on dragons site and search for fuel parts. they mostly come with "exploded vieuws" in which you easyly get your answers.
I also feel your action is to be respected aldough its a "waiste" of good 480 parts.
I think you are neglegted by some club members, and that is unfair.
I can't give you your answer, but hope this tip will get you further.

thanks m8, ive got both the wiring diagrams and parts booklets from the site, but none give acurate enough info,
i realise the others dont want to help me as i pissed them all off with all my qeustions at the start and i have apologised for it, but i guess its too l8 (as all of them have blocked me on msn).

Hi!
At the rear of the regulator the hose is the return to tank, in the front a hose to the inlet mainfold. This adjust the regulator to have av balanced overpressure to the mainfold, when pressure wariates in the mainfold the fuelpressure is adjusted to ensure the same amount is injected.
The inlet to the regulator is by the fuelrail, the same as the injectors are mounted to. Pics http://volvo480.kicks-ass.net/servlet/u ... icle&id=26 (sorry in swedish)
The evaporvate system with the colcanister make sure tha no fumes from the tank reach out into the open
Regards Jonas

right see the pressure regulator does it had fuel flowing through it, i.e. fuel that isnt used in the rail, this is throwing me as from the diagrams and prictures it looks like its just mounted ont he end of the rail and the only things it uses is the return to fuel and the vacum to the manifold...
where does all the unsed fuel goto.
and how does the system work?

Well the way i saw it which may be completely wrong!!,, is you have the fuel pumped through the injector rail, which, once at the other end, needs to meet some resistance to pump the fuel through the injectors. The remaining fuel is returned to the tank. It's controlled by the vacuum to vary the amount of fuel being used / returned, under different loads.
