Clutch Issue?

Post by CaptainQwerty » Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:09 am

Hello everyone,

If I start my Volvo L reg Turbo and drive it, the clutch is fine, even under heavy acceleration.

How ever, if I leave it idling a little to warm the engine up on a cold morning or end up sitting at traffic lights for a while the clutch will then slip like crazy.

Any suggestions?

I have been informed the clutch itself may be fine as if it was warn or damaged etc. it would slip all the time. Some one said it could be a "crank shaft oil seal" leaking onto the clutch?

Any help is apprechitated.

also if it is the clutch where can I get one from as EVERYWHERE I have looked has been out of stock. I ordered one ages ago from TMS and it was on order for a month claimining "It was coming" so I just got my money back in the end.

thanks.

Could very well be the oilseal. But either way you have to replace the clutch. A new oilseal and new clutch is a gearbox out job, a new oilseal will cost you less then a tenner. If you can't scource a clutch new you can have your old clutch reconditioned as option.

Partsforvolvosonline sells clutch kits for the turbo, dunno if they have them in stock though!

Thank you for the help :)

My dad owns a garage so not scared of any work as I have a spare car which I have put on the road while I take the volvo off the road to make it a stunner :)

A proper volvo gearbox oil seal will set you back about £26 including VAT at 17.5%
