Hi!
My 480 ES -87 has bad idle when the engine is cold. Sometimes ( often) it just dies, and sometimes ( seldom) the engine goes up to 3000 rpm!
To tell the whole "story".
When I start the engine ( cold) , it goes upp to 1200 rpm as it should. After a few sec, it drops down to 700-900 rpm ( normal rpm for idle) for just a few sec. Then it drops more, and allmost dies ( sometime is does), and then rush upp to 1200 rpm again.( sometime all way up to 3000 rpm and stays there))
The engine does this procedure untill the engine is warm, then it goes perfect. This problem makes it hard to drive the car when the engine is cold, because when I put down the clutch, the engine dies allmost immediately.
Give me some clue please.

Mine was like that a few weeks ago. It wouldnt run properly when the engine was cold, stalled very easily and an occational misfire.
Changed the sparkplugs, ignition cables and (I dont know the english word but, you're a swede so I'll guess you'll understand the norwegian word: kondensfjerner).
That seem to do the trick and now it starts and runs fine without any hiccups or odd behavior. Some varitations in idle RPM are still present, but not nearly as bad as before. I've started the car without problems in -23 degrees after that.
